Investing in the continuous learning and improvement of lecturers through conference attendance is a strategic and beneficial practice. It not only benefits individual school members but also contributes to the overall growth, innovation, and quality of education within the institution.
At the School of Business and Management, we are committed to providing the best educational and learning experiences blending relevant business theories and practices for our students and academic staff. Conferences serve as an ideal platform for knowledge sharing with international delegates, as they facilitate collaboration, promote professional development, and enhance the overall effectiveness of the program.
Through a collaborative approach between the School of Business and Management (University of Technology Sarawak), Business Events Sarawak, and the Centre on Technological Readiness & Innovation in Business Technopreneurship (CONTRIBUTE), three (3) academic staff members (Dr. Chin Chee Hua, Head of Programme, Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Marketing; Mdm. Lim Wee Cheng, Head of Programme, Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours); Ms. Ngian Ek Tee, Head of CONTRIBUTE) joined the Asian Academic Accounting Association (FourA) Conference 2023, an established conference that has been organized since 2000 and is one of the well-recognized Accounting conferences worldwide, especially in Asia.
We have presented some of the important insights and key findings from the Sarawak context with international delegates in business and accounting programs (e.g., United States, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, New Zealand, Indonesia, and Thailand). Kudos to Mdm. Lim’s sharing of the latest developments in accountancy from a Malaysian and Sarawak standpoint was well received by the participants.
Besides, we are honoured and excited to have a fruitful engagement session with the Secretary General of FourA, Professor Shahrokh Saudagaran (University of Washington) and Associate Professor Dr. Aidi Ahmi (Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy, Universiti Utara Malaysia) in which we discussed key insights and potential developments related to the accounting program.
On behalf of the School of Business and Management, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Business Events Sarawak, particularly to Mr. Donny Tan (Senior Business Development Manager, Conventions & Exhibitions) and Mr. Stevenson Racha Ipoi (Business Development Executive), as well as to Associate Professor Dr. Winnie Wong Poh Ming (Dean, School of Business and Management, the University of Technology Sarawak) for the invaluable support you provided in making our recent attendance at the FourA Conference 2023 not only successful but also exceptionally fruitful and beneficial. We look forward to leveraging the knowledge and connections gained to enhance our projects and initiatives.
